“I wish to recommend Communicare without hesitation. Your carers James, George and Seamus dealt with the difficult challenges posed by a client with an acquired brain injury and suicidal tendencies, in a skillful and professional manner. They were exceptional in the most extreme of situations at times when the client’s behaviour meant that he was a danger to himself and to others. The carers were very discreet in their interactions with hospital staff, key workers and the Gardai and are certainly a credit to your organisation.”

“My daughter has cerebral palsy and is wheelchair-bound. We find Esther, her carer, to be extremely reliable and very obliging. She cares for our daughter in a very loving manner. She is aware of Emma’s needs and restricted movements and is now an integral part her daily routine, which is very reassuring for her. Emma is very familiar with Esther and is comfortable with her presence whilst being showered or changed. I have complete confidence in Esther and have never at any time doubted her professionalism and discretion. She is very pleasant and punctual and is part of our family. Throughout the years, Communicare have provided Emma with fantastic care and have given me some much-needed support. Many thanks.”

“My uncle, Joseph, suffers from Korsakoff’s Syndrome, a form of dementia. His condition means that he has trouble with his short-term memory, which is of great concern to us, particularly as he lives alone. At present, his carer calls to him twice a day and Joseph really looks forward to his visits. The carer is so good to Joseph, bringing him down to shops and making sure the house is secure when he leaves. We’re both extremely happy with the service. If there is an unforeseen problem or event, there’s always someone from Communicare at the end of the phone and they’re very quick to find a solution. The clocking in and clocking out system is so reassuring to us – A very special thank you to all the staff at Communicare.”

“Our carer, Felicity, has a lovely caring nature. She comes to greet my mother and myself with a great happy smile and often brings our favourite cakes. My mother was suffering from pain in her feet so Felicity gave her a wonderful foot massage. She is a great companion for my Mum and chats away to her while she prepares the meals, does some ironing or makes the beds. She is very upbeat in her approach and we are very happy to have her in our home.

On behalf of my family, I want to express our deep gratitude for the superb care given to our late father over the past sixteen months. He suffered from Parkinson’s for years but things went downhill rapidly when he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Dad spent some time in hospital receiving treatment, but he kept telling us that he’d like to spend whatever time he had left at home with Mum.

A social worker at the hospital told us about Communicare and from the very first phone call to your office, we just felt that a weight had been lifted off our shoulders. The Manager assigned to us listened patiently to all our requests and made invaluable suggestions to us, advising on the use of a hoist and various other aids to make things easier. Dad just loved his two carers and those lads blended in like part of the family. They made him laugh and talked to him about rugby, the sport he loved. We will be eternally grateful for everything CommuniCare did for Dad and for us.

“My son, who has ADHD, has had the service of a care worker provided by CommuniCare for over 18 months. We have found Communicare to be highly competent and helpful and the service our son has received has been very reliable. The carer is there each afternoon to meet him off the school bus and he loves to chat with her on the way home and while she prepares his dinner. She is very patient with him and his challenging behaviour seems to have improved since she arrived. My son has benefited very much from this service and overall it has been a very positive experience for our family.”

I’ll never forget the day our neighbour found my mother wandering aimlessly down the road without a clue where she was. My sisters and I had noticed her getting forgetful at times but that incident made us realise that something more serious was going on. When she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, we had a family meeting and my Dad insisted that Mum be kept at home. However, Dad is older than Mum and suffers from ill health himself, so we couldn’t expect him to make sure she was safe every minute of the day.

We decided to do some research into homecare services and after several phone calls we eventually decided on Communicare. The carers come in at various times throughout the day, starting when Mum gets up at 8 a.m. They help her to get dressed, prepare her meals and clean the house. They use various techniques to stimulate her brain activity and they keep a detailed log of relevant details in a book in the sitting room for us to have a look over when we call around. The carers take Mum to Mass every morning and to the local shops or for a cup of coffee if she feels up to it. They’re also very good to my Dad - even though he’s not their client, they make sure he has everything he needs all the same. I don’t honestly think we could cope without the service that Communicare provides for Mum.

I want to thank you so much for the wonderful care you provided when I broke my leg in September. Not being able to get out and about or drive was unbelievably restricting, especially as I live alone. The carer you provided was fantastic. She came in every day, did my shopping, tidied the house and helped me with anything I needed. It’s great to know such a service is available.

When my husband Thomas was discharged from hospital, I didn’t know how I was going to cope looking after him at home. He’d always been a very independent man and after his surgery, he would become very frustrated at not being able to do the things he used to. The three carers from Communicare who take turns to come in and care for him are fantastic. They know just how to humour him and can get him to co-operate, whereas he can be quite stubborn when I or our children try to help him. God bless the carers – I don’t know what I’d do without them.

The two carers who come in three times a day to look after my mother are exceptional. Mammy is incapacitated and is on oxygen. She is very fussy about how her food is prepared but the girls know exactly the way she likes it. They leave the house spotless and they treat her as if she was their own mother. I couldn’t recommend Communicare highly enough.
