Specialised Care
All of Communicare's Carers and Nurses are highly trained and experienced in performing general healthcare duties. However, we also have a number of employees who have undergone specific training courses and have gained work experience within specialised fields in the healthcare industry. Please read on to find out more...
Tracheostomy Care
A quick look at a testimonial from the father of one of our young clients, who was born with serious health problems, shows just how stressful caring for a sick child can be. A number of our Carers have undergone a training programme in a major Dublin hospital which has equipped them to support parents in dealing with tracheostomy tubing, feeding and general care for these young people.
Post-operative Care
Performing routine everyday tasks can be difficult or even physically impossible for those recovering from serious illness or convalescing after an operation. Our Carers can take a weight off your shoulders by providing you with all the help you need to get on with your daily activities until you’re back to your old self again.
Palliative Care
The final weeks and months in the life of a terminally ill patient are extremely challenging, emotional and stressful for the individual, their family members and friends. Palliative care focuses on the treatment of pain and other problems, integrating the physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs of the patient. Our Carers will sensitively ensure that your loved one is as comfortable as possible, whilst providing much-needed support and assistance for your family, ensuring that both you and your loved one can make the most of the precious time remaining.
Alzheimer's and Dementia Care
One of the greatest fears faced by older people and their families is diminished mental capacity. Alzheimers, the most common form of dementia, gradually deprives individuals of their memory, personality and ability to perform even simple activities of daily living. The burden of caring for a loved one suffering from Alzheimers can be immense.
CommuniCare can help those affected by this disease by imparting the knowledge we have garnered from our experience in working with Alzheimers clients in the past. We can also provide information on the many charities and organisations dedicated to helping patients and their families to cope with Alzheimers. Our care staff will use their training to engage the client in intellectual activities to stimulate their mind and encourage interaction. We can provide much needed respite care when family carers need a break and our comprehensive monitoring processes will ensure that the client’s care plan changes as their disease progresses.
Perhaps most importantly, the care provided by CommuniCare for your loved one in the comfort of their own home means that they can maintain a regular routine and remain in familiar surroundings, thus enhancing their quality of life as they cope with Alzheimers.
Please remember that you do not have to face this disease alone. CommuniCare are here to help.
